It is often confusing which type of emails should I send step by step, isn’t it?
Sending the correct email to the correct person at the correct time is what will drive your sales. Email marketing is the best because you control the organic reach here. Unlike other social media platforms where nowadays you have to pay money to grab eyeballs. Also, email is a personal space for most of the people.
If you have your audience’s permission to send them emails then it is very important to respect that. You must then send them the following types of emails from the time they first opt-in and start building relationships with them.
Remember, write your emails like you are talking to one single friend instead of your whole email list
So let’s start.
Indoctrination types of emails.

Indoctrination means briefing. This is similar to how we are given before the takeoff of every flight. It’s important because here you are first getting to know each other.
- Ask them to whitelist and follow you on all your platforms.
- Tell them what to expect from emails that you are going to send them and how often you will send them emails.
- Tell your story and show them your best content.
- Answer a few questions that they may have
- Ask them to reply to an open-ended question you asked them to increase bonding.
For the first 3 to 4 emails send these types of emails. Now, coming to the next type:
Engagement types of emails

Here, it is about them. Your goal here is to increase your engagement. Measure metrics like open rate and click-through rate for the links that you post. You can do the following things to increase engagement:
- Tell them more stuff about the lead magnet they opted in for
- Talk about a particular topic for a few days. Ask their opinion on it
- Start offering your tripwire.
- Send them other people’s useful content
- Collaborate with other business owners/influencers and send them a free interview webinar invitation, etc
Show them what they will gain or lose if they buy your tripwire. Or, even if they won’t buy, show them that what is the value or loss in being present in your email list
Ascension/Sales type of emails

Now, keeping the engagement on, start offering more of your own products or affiliate products to your customers. The goal in ascension is to keep them buying from you again and again. Keep offering something until you are out of products or they say no. Haha as Deepak Kanakaraju says, All is well until you sell sell sell!
You have to sell them or at least help them reach their ideal after. For example, if you are a fitness trainer and a person wanting to have six-pack abs is your customer, then your goal is to help them reach their ideal after i.e 6 pack abs.
Now it can be through your products, affiliates or simply value. That is how a deep relationship will be built between you and your customers. At Least one in your 5 emails should be an ascension email.
Segmentation process

Segmentation means dividing your email list according to the different goals your customers have. This is important because someone who wants to just lose weight may not want to build 6-pack abs ripped body, isn’t it?
So, you can find this out by simply asking them through a survey. Now once you have segmented them now you have different sections of people having similar goals in each section. This will be your broadcast list.
Don’t sell anything here. All the previous types of emails were automated but not this one. The goal over here is to convert as many people as possible eventually. So, send them a specific lead magnet according to their goals and make them re opt-in. Now, again the previous types of emails can be automated for them.
But, this time the automated emails going to them will be fully targeted according to their goals. This is the reason why segmentation is so important.
Re-engagement type of emails

Finally, we want the maximum people to reach there “after” state eventually using our products and services. But, some people are just lazy and won’t engage at all. The goal here is to win them back.
So, if for 60 days of sending them emails to engage with them, they do not open the emails, then, send them the following type of messages through emails.
- Ask them, are you ok?
- Did we do something wrong?
- This is your last chance
If nothing happens, they just do not take action then remove them from your email list. It is good for both of you. They won’t get any unwanted emails or your emails won’t go to their spam folder and you can save money in your email marketing tools cost.
PS: Your email going to the spam folder is bad for your SEO.
Conclusion
So these were the 5 types of emails that you can send to your customers. They will increase your sales and build relationships with your customers. The most important part here is the engagement types of emails.
